October Dinner Party: The Silver Palate Cookbook
Join us for our October Dinner Party, where we will be cooking from the book that “changed the cookbook world forever” according to Ina Garten - the classic, The Silver Palate Cookbook!
When: October 3rd, 6 - 8pm
Where: Open Space Studios, 220 NE Lafayette Ave, Bend, OR 97701
We will be hosted by Open Space Studios. You do not need to bring silverware or plates - just bring your dish and whatever utensil you need to serve it! The dinner is $25/per person to cover the costs of the space and supplies. Please register and pay in advance below!
Please note: Central Oregon Daily News will be attending our dinner party to feature Jill’s Cookbook Club as a story. If you are uncomfortable being filmed, we can make sure you do not appear in the story.
If you don't have the book, join us for our planning happy hour from 4:30 - 6pm on September 25th at Waypoint BBC in the Grove (with our favorite bartender Dane!) to pick out a recipe to make. Otherwise email me at jill@thecookbookclub.net for some recipe options!
About the Book:
The Silver Palate Cookbook, in its 35 years on our shelves, changed the way that America cooks at home. It took a revolutionary approach to American classics, offering tweaks and influences from other cuisines to make recipes exciting and approachable. The Chicken Marbella recipe is one of legends. There are some folks that have used their copies so much that they fell apart - and I know it’s been a beloved member of my shelf for a long time. I’m so excited to try these recipes with you all!
There is a wonderful article on Bon Appetit about the influence of this cookbook that I encourage you all to read: https://www.bonappetit.com/story/silver-palate-cookbook-influence
