March Dinner Party: What's For Dessert

$25.00

Join us for our March dinner, where we will be cooking recipes from Claire Saffitz’s new book, What’s for Dessert!

Location: Open Space Studios, 220 NE Lafayette Ave, Bend, OR 97701

Date & Time: Wednesday April 5th, 6pm - 7:30pm

It’s hard to resist the temptation for this book after reading this description from the New York Times:

“Asking ‘what’s for dessert?’ is more than a nightly routine, it’s a personal exercise.” Truer, more beautiful words have never been written. In her new cookbook, What’s for Dessert, former Bon Appétit editor, Gourmet Makes star, and overall baking hero Claire Saffitz provides over 100 delicious answers. “Historically, dessert to me has always meant something baked,” Saffitz writes, “but this book expands that definition.”

While her first book, Dessert Person, offers recipes for showstoppers of all difficulties (I still have dreams about the tart tatin), Saffitz’s second book takes several factors into consideration—time, kitchen space, and budget—for recipes that are as approachable as possible. None of them require a stand mixer, only about half require a hand mixer, and plenty of them are no-bake.

Claire Saffitz is perpetually charming and endearingly approachable. She excels at making complicated pastry and baking recipes seem approachable to the every-day cook and the baking-intimidated (like myself!). You can preview some of the recipes in the NYT article here, and her Youtube channel also features her cooking some so you can cook alongside her - and us! Our dinner party will be “Dessert for Dinner”, which sounds like the perfect late-Winter vibe to me.

We will be hosted by Open Space Studios. You do not need to bring silverware or plates - just bring your dish and whatever utensil you need to serve it! The dinner is $25/per person to cover the costs of the space and supplies. Please register and pay in advance!

If you don't have the book, join us for our planning happy hour on March 20th at Waypoint BBC in the Grove (with our favorite bartender Dane!) to pick out a recipe to make. Otherwise, email me at jill@thecookbookclub.net for some recipe options!
